Story behind “Old Money”

This photograph was captured during my trip to Melbourne in February 2025. On my last day in the city, I set out to wander with no set plan. While exploring the area around the Cathedral near Flinders Street Station, I came across this beautiful vintage car parked against the striking architecture of the building.

The setting had so much potential, but when I reviewed the shot on my camera, it didn’t quite match the image I had pictured in my mind. I even tried editing it on the plane ride home, but I still couldn’t bring it to life the way I had imagined.

Months later, while clearing out my hard drive, I stumbled across the image again. This time, I saw something I had missed before — the power of a tighter crop. After experimenting with various compositions, I realised the front of the vehicle told a stronger story. Converting the image to black and white added a timeless, cinematic feel that finally brought my original vision to life.
